Canada Water Studios is the creation of Angelina Spurrier, supported by her husband and business partner Julian Richards, successful owners of the Vacani School of Ballet ( Angelina had always wanted to create a permanent London base for her children’s ballet school and when the opportunity came to and fit out a new space in Canada Water to her specification she seized it. Alongside her children’s ballet classes Angelina has hired an experienced team of health and fitness experts to provide an exciting range of classes for adults, (pre and post natal) mummies & babies.

Julian Richards


Julian has over 20 years international business experience working in senior global positions at some of the world’s largest companies (Vodafone, Verizon, T-Mobile, Marconi etc).  Prior to returning to the UK in 2001 Julian spent 10 years living and working in Silicon Valley, California in a variety of technology management roles.  Julian has extensive marketing, sales, project management, contract negotiation and team leadership experience and is now excited to lead the business and marketing efforts of Canada Water Studios.


Angelina Spurrier

Director of Dance BA Hons (Dance) AISTD (Cecchetti) AISTD (Imperial)

Angelina (known as Miss Angelina to her pupils) started her ballet training at the age of 3; at the age of 8 Angelina was offered a scholarship at the Paris Opera Ballet School.  As a pupil Angelina danced in a number of professional productions; participated in Nureyev’s rehearsals for Romeo and Juliet; danced for President Mitterand, and one of her most memorable experiences was when she met and danced with Gene Kelly in a tribute to An American in Paris.

Angelina continued her training at Bush Davies, The Royal Ballet, Upper School TTC and Central School of Ballet.

Angelina danced with the Braunschweig Staatstheater, Germany, and danced in a range of classical and contemporary ballets.

Angelina is currently the ballet director and ballet principal of Vacani (Clapham) School of Dance.


Robert Izatt

Pilates & Yoga Instructor

Multi-certified fitness instructor, specializing in Pilates and Yoga. Registered E-RYT with the Yoga Alliance and fully trained in Stott Pilates ALL levels across Mat-work, Reformer, Cadillac, Chairs, and Barrels. Robert has also completed Stott Pilates training for Injuries & Special Populations. Currently working towards Full Level ll certification.
With over 25 years within the Fitness Industry, with experience and certification in multi disciplines. Starting with Low/High Impact Aerobics, Step, Spinning, and Body Pump. Moving into Tai Chi, Qi Gong, and Yoga. Robert also has completed various Personal Training Certifications, Esalen Massage Training, Cranial Sacral Therapy, Usui Reiki I & II, and Watsu Level I & II.


Kirsten McCarron

Ballet Teacher BA (Hons)

Originally from Scotland, Kirsten graduated from Central School of Ballet in 2009 with a BA(Hons) Professional Dance and Performance Studies. Kirsten danced professionally in a variety of dance companies including the Estonian National Ballet, The Royal Opera and English National Ballet collaborating with street dance group Flawless.  Kirsten has spent the past 3 years teaching children’s ballet in London.


Marta Simonetti

Yoga Instructor

I am a fully qualified Yoga teacher, fully insured and registered with Yoga Alliance UK. I have one 200 hours from the Life of a Yogi (LOAY) training in New York with Sri Dharma Mittra (Dharma Yoga) and a 200 hours with Yoga London in Vinyasa Flow. I have also studied Yoga extensively in Bali (Yoga Barn). I teach several dynamic sequences based on the teachings of Dharma Mittra and senior vinyasa teachers:

–        Dharma I, II and III (vinyasa-based traditional Dharma Yoga structures, very dynamic as well as spiritual with short pranayama and meditation);

–        Dharma Vinyasa Flow intermediate / advanced (a mix between Dharma and Yoga and vinyasa flow, with guided flow, extensive backbends and inversions);

–        Dynamic Vinyasa flow / modified ashtanga (beginners to advanced);

–        Slow flow;

–        ‘Yoga – body’ focused classes (mix of dynamic with long stretches and target areas).


I am also fully qualified to teach children (TT Triyoga).
